How to donate eggs for money: $7000 per egg for donating
88
So you want to donate eggs for money...
Many people have heard about egg donation, but not everyone understands the process. Maybe you saw an advertisement on Craigslist looking for egg donors. A lot of young college students decide to donate when they find out they can make $7000 or more when they donate eggs.
While that's a lot of money, keep in mind that there's a reason you're getting paid so much money! This is a complicated process that will take up a fair amount of your time. On top of that there are some personal issues you should consider before you make the decision to donate your eggs.
Can you really get paid to donate eggs?
Smart people should always hear alarm bells when someone offers them thousands of dollars for what seems like very little work. Egg donation is one of those rare instances where there truly is a market for something that's relatively easy.
The amount of money you can be paid typically ranges from around $4,000 to $10,000. There is a fairly diverse market for eggs, so many women are at least allowed to place their information in a book for prospective parents. Men can generally only donate sperm if they're close to 6 feet tall and have a college education. Being attractive and well educated will certainly help your prospects for selection, but many couples simply look for an egg donor that shares physical similarities with themselves.
As we'll discuss later, you will want to look for an agency that's reputable. Many advertisements promise exorbitant rates (anything over $10k starts to sound fishy) because these are actually just egg brokers looking to lure in interested parties and then offer something much lower when everything is ready to go. There do seem to be some egg donation offers that are legitimate and higher, but these far exceed professional ethics guidelines for what is appropriate.
What's the process for egg donation?
1. Find an agency: there are many agencies. Take your time to research them. Keep in mind that most potential parents are willing to pay for travel expenses, so you aren't limited by geography.
2. Go through the screening process: the agency will put you through a rigorous screening process that is used to build a profile on you as well as make sure you're healthy enough to donate.
3. Wait for inquiry: This step may take as little as a few weeks, or may never come. Prospective parents will have to choose you from all the potential woman they look at. But remember, there are many people out there looking for egg donors.
4. Interview and/or medical checkup: Most prospective parents will want to fly you to their local fertility specialist. Sometimes they will meet with you and sometimes you'll simply get checked up by the doctor. Expect a pelvic exam, blood draw, and psychological evaluation to make sure you are a fit candidate for the procedure.
5. Be selected: If everything goes well, the prospective parents will go forward. At this point you should receive a contract covering the payment schedule and treatment obligations of the parents. Remember, you should never have to pay out of pocket for any medical or travel expenses incurred through this process.
6. Begin hormone treatment: You will have already discussed hormone treatments with the doctors, and now you will receive shipment so you can begin. Typically these will be sent via FedEx or UPS to your home. The hormones are needed so that you will produce multiple eggs that can be harvested.
7. Egg harvesting procedure: The most common procedure is called Ultrasound Guided Aspiration. The procedure has an excellent track record of safety and is also relatively quick.
8. Get paid for services: Usually you will get a small portion of money around the time you begin hormone treatment (it's typical to receive about $1000 at that stage). The remainder will be due once the procedure has been completed. Again, most reputable agencies pay between $4,000 and $10,000 total.
What are the personal issues to consider when you donate eggs?
When making the decision to donate your eggs, it's important to think about the personal issues involved. You're going to be helping somebody have a child that doesn't have the ability to have their own, and most people think that's a wonderful thing. You should consider how you'll react knowing that there's a child in the world that is genetically yours. In most states and most situations you will have no access to the child in the future. Egg donors have no parental rights as far as the state is concerned. This is a deeply personal matter and you should careful consider if you are okay with this arrangement. In some limited circumstances the legal parents of the child will create an agreement where you can contact the child in the future, but this is definitely not the norm and tends to happen more frequently when you know the couple using your eggs before the donation process begins.
How do you avoid egg donation scams?
The most important thing to remember is that a legitimate egg donation will involve no money upfront from you. Also, once selected, you should be signing a legal contract that guarantees all of your legal and travel expenses will be paid for while you are on hormone treatment and when your eggs are harvested.
You will want to make sure that you look into whatever agency you choose to work with. Ask for references from former egg donors who have gone through the process. The biggest thing you'll want to look out for are egg brokers. As we discussed earlier, promises of $50,000 for eggs should be taken with a grain of salt and are likely an attempt to compile a database of potential donors. Don't waste your time with brokers since there are many agencies that handle this sort of thing more efficiently.

are you based in the usa or uk
Oklahoma, USA
are there age requirements?
I live in upstate NY, and I want to donate eggs. Can someone refer me to an agency?
How do i find center near me? I stay in the detroit Mi area.
I am really interested in donating my eggs. I think it would be great to help a couple. I am young and I think it would be a wonderful thing to do.
Remember that eggs are a limited resource.
I have seen those signs around college, and never really took them seriously for several reasons. One, the "genetic child" issue. Two, the fact that you will have to be on hormone treatments for a few months before you can donate your eggs (I don't even like to take Tylenol if I have a tooth ache, let alone hormone treatments!) Third, and I don't know if this gets addressed when meeting with doctors or not, is that women have a set number of eggs in their body when they're born. When the eggs are gone, you go through menopause. What happens to your body's natural reproductive cycle if you have eggs harvested? I'm sure they don't take tons of eggs or anything, probably only a few, but just wondering.
Anyways, definitely not something I would do, but it's interesting where medical research has brought us to.
I am a 40 year old with three great kids. I had my tubes tied after my youngest was born 20 years ago. Can I still donate my eggs and will the fact that I have three heathy children make a difference in the amount I can her?
Most of the time, the hormones are given to someone in the form of shots. There is a chance that there maybe a hormone pill. I found this article very informative. I never really thought about something like this before. I am a college student and I have never seen one of those posters/fliers around my college.
Anyone know of any place to do this around Missouri? I am pregnant with my third and final child so I think it would be great to help someone who can't have children accomplish their dream.
I'm 19 years old and live in California, Does anyone have any experience with a good trustworthy company they can refer me to? Thanks
do u need a high school and college education
in colorado they advertise on the radio for this. Through Colorado Egg Donation (i think that is what it is called) anyhow they say they pay up to 5,000 for the eggs. and actually state that requirements are as follows: be between the ages of 18-35, non smoker in good health, college background (either degree or working on getting it)
CAN YOU HAVE MORE CHILDREN AFTER DONATING EGGS
How old do you have to be to donate the eggs and is there a cut off age where you can't be to old?
So are there any serious risks taht can affect your body in the future thst can prevent you from actually getting pregnant and having your own kids? I want to do this procedure but I am not sure of some things. I'd like to be able to get this money too] help out my family with their financial situation since we just lost our home but I want to have kids in the future, I am 18 so I don't need anything going wrong with the procedure and then I am not allowed to have kids.
I am a very fir 50 year old woman who is still having regular periods, can I donate?
No one past age 30 can donate from what I have researched. Most agencys require that you are a healthy wieght and don't have any dibilatating mental or physical illness. I am looking to donate in the bay area and have done the research, still looking though. San Francisco seems promising.
i want to know if i can donate my eggs at the age of 42 and no colleg degree. I also dont have my uterus but i have both ovaries
I live near Kansas City Missouri, is there somewhere near by where I can donate eggs? I want kids one day, but I also want to help woman that cant have any children in their own. I'm 22 years old and healthy.
I am a 30 year old college student and I have had a tubal but still have everything. I am very interested in both helping other families have children and also the money. I have two beautiful kids and really dont want to have any more. I live in east texas and would love to find a place close by. Not real sure about he hormones but i think it would be worth knowing i helped a family have a child.
Well Im in the houston area and I find this interesting. I wouldnt mind doing this or carrying a child for someone I dont know what it feels like to not be able to have kids but I have three in just finished college I love it in wouldnt change it for the world I would like to know I helped someone have that same joy I do everyday.
I have 4 beautiful children and had my tubes tied 4 years ago, would i still be able to donate? If so could you please refer me to a egg donation center?
Great hub.

I am interested to donate eggs. Please let me know the pros and cons of it
Where can I donate eggs in Ohio?

Tina
So this sounds like it takes time. So is it not as easy and one to three? You dont go in get tested and then they take the eggs? You have to wait until someone picks you to give your eggs away?
Where the h*** are the people who are supposed to be answering questions?
Hi everyone! I'm 25 and have been using TinyTreasures.com as my agency. I was recently selected by a business woman in new jersey. I live in California and TinyTreasures has an office here and in Boston so this will work out perfectly.
I'm waiting to finish my bc cycle so my hormones will regulate, and then I'll begin the blood test and ultrasound to make sure everything is normal. After that (and I'm not paying for ANYTHING, by the way) they'll fly me to new jersey for more tests and I'll start the injections. I'm very excited. I should be getting $4k. I think donors need to be over 18, at least, with no medical issues.
The whole process usually takes around three months.
I will definitely be able to have my own kids after this process (I have none right now).
Hope this helps some of you!! :)
Hi I'm interested in donating my eggs I want to help a couple
This post was right on. There are many requirements to donate your eggs. These stringent requirements are on top of the very involved and time consuming process of egg donation. And yes gals, there are risks involved! Please make sure you educate yourselves! Not only are there physical risks, but please make sure you contemplate the emotional aspects of egg donation as well.
A good agency should set you up with a psychologist to discuss your emotional well being and thoughts on the process, as well as coordinate legal counsel for you so that you will be protected with contracts and have your lawyer guide you to understand your legal rights and obligations.
Any of you gals are welcome to visit www.angeleggdonation.com and read up on some of the risks involved, the donor requirements, and the entire process overall. Of course, do not just take your information from one site - glean from different resources to educate yourself with ever aspect of the process.
And of course, if you'd like to apply to become an egg donor with An Angel's Gift (A Colorado based egg donation agency) please feel free to do so.

If I may, I’m happy to answer a few of your questions.
MP – Yes, the entire process takes time. Assuming you meet the initial qualifications, there is no determining when you may be chosen by a set of intended parents. You could be chosen within a month, and there’s a chance you may never be chosen. It depends entirely on what the intended parents are looking for. Agencies can never guarantee to match you. However, if you’re chosen, the entire cycle can last approximately three months though each cycle is different. During this time you can expect to sign contracts, meet with a psychologist, have a lengthy initial exam including a vaginal ultrasound, blood test, overall physical, drug testing, and more. You’ll also attend many early morning monitoring appointments with the IVF clinic, and give self administered subcutaneous injections at home for a period of approximately 20 of those days. The doctors appointments will involve regular blood draws and vaginal ultrasounds to check your progress. After this entire process, the eggs will be retrieved at which point you should receive the remainder of your compensation.
Tina – most programs cut off the maximum age limit at 33, so you would most likely not qualify to donate your eggs.
None – You’re not limited to any geographical area to donate your eggs (Ohio) unless you truly desire to stay local. If you are willing to travel, the intended parents will pay for your traveling expenses.
Cristina – you’re never required to travel. Just let the agency you’re working with know if you would be willing to travel or not. In addition to paying your traveling expenses, intended parents will also pay for child care if you need someone to watch your children while you’re away. Usually this traveling time away from home is approximately 5 days, but this is just a general average. It could always be a few days more depending on the clinic. However, you should be given plenty of advanced notice of when you could expect to travel so you have time to plan… assuming you were willing to travel in the first place.
Ms. Solome J. – You would still qualify to donate if you have had your tubes tied. The egg retrieval procedure actually bypasses the fallopian tubes and accesses your ovaries directly.
Teresa – some programs do REQUIRE that you have a college degree or are currently attending college, but not all. Many just ask that you have a minimum of a high school degree. However, your age probably would be an issue since many programs (clinics and agencies) require that you be under age 33 to donate. All programs differ on their age requirements. Some go as low as 18 (the legal age to enter into a contractual agreement) while the ASRM suggests a minimum age of 21 to ensure the donor is mature enough to understand the process of egg donation, and the maximum I’ve seen is 33 with a few exceptions. An Angel’s Gift, Inc., requires that our donors be between ages 21-30.
Anjelica and Yolanda – donating your eggs should not affect your future ability to get pregnant. I’ve been a five time egg donor and my husband and I are expecting a beautiful baby in March of 2012. We got pregnant on our first try.
Sadie Valentine and Brooke – donating your eggs would never leave you with no eggs to have your own future children. While your statement is true that a woman does have a set number of eggs and enters into menopause after all of her ovarian reserve is used up, egg donation would not affect this number significantly. A woman has 1- 2 million eggs before she is even born. You lose hundreds of thousands before you even hit puberty. An average egg donation cycle will retrieve 15-20 eggs (again, just an average as some retrieve less, some retrieve as many as 50 although that’s less common), which is just a tiny drop in the bucket compared to the hundreds of thousands you still have. Each month a woman naturally looses about 1,000 eggs, as only 1, maybe 2 actually reach maturity and are released from the ovaries each month. An egg donation cycle just causes more eggs out of that 1,000 that you would lose anyway to mature, resulting in 15-20 retrievable oocytes.
Again, you’re welcome to find more information on my website, www.angeleggdonation.com, although there are many, many helpful resources via books, internet, or even your local infertility clinic that can give you more information on the process.

i am 34 and have 4 kids would i be able to do this
I have tubal ligation. Will I be able to donate?
i recently donated my eggs to my friend, but there are several legitimate agencies out there - most of which will have your information available to women [or men] across the country. Before they asked our friend-base I know they looked at:
Fertility Network Agency
Extraordinary Conceptions
and
Surrogate Alternatives
You must remember not everyone can donate eggs. You usually have to be at least 21 [though I've seen some places that accept 20 year olds]. You must be a non-smoker and you have to pass a drug test. They offer you an application that you must fill out [most are about 10 pages long] of you and your family's health history. Your high school diploma is almost always mandatory, but you don't need your college degree even though it is usually what future parents look for. I've been told girls with nicer traits are more likely to be picked for the process as how the donor looks will reflect the look of the child.
If you are picked for the process it takes several month where you must abstain from sex, drugs, alcohol, and very rigorous exercise. You can only donate so many times and even the first time you donate, due to the hormones, you are susceptible to future fertility problems due to over stimulation of the ovaries. Though it doesn't happen to everyone, you should keep that in mind - especially if a family is extraordinarily important to your plans of the future.
Though the process was strenuous, for me, and got quite stressful, it was still a great experience. The opportunity is what you make of it, don't donate because you like the idea of 5K in your bank account. Only apply if you are mentally and physically prepared - there are several people who say they want to donate but pull their application once they get an interested couple because they get scared which is very frustrating to those serious about the process.
Hope this helps!

I live in Chico, California and would like to donate my eggs. Is there a reputable company I can contact?
I. Sonnett Stern
Why do you need to be college educated to donate?
@ A.J. Because we do not need more "stupids" in the world.
i would love to do this because i enjoy my 4 kids but this will have to be a decision of me and my husband i wanted to be a surrogate for our friends but just when they were thinking their invtro worked but my husband has other worldly views i will ask but i highly doubt he will approve to all those who do donate and help wonderful family's be born i thank you
Hello everyone, I am looking to donate my eggs. I have a 6 year old son who is very intellegent and good looking. Im 5'4", light skin, African American and Puerto Rican, long hair, very nice shape, small feet, pretty teeth, and cute small ears. I'm currently enrolled in college for early childhood, had a degree in culinary, and in the future I will be going to cosmotology. Does anyone know of a legit place for me to donate in North Carolina.
Does the egg donation hurt in anyway
will egg donation hurt my chances of haven a child in the future
I'm 20 years old and have no mental or physical health conditions and I want to donate. I want $10,000 though! I'm working on a Masters degree.
could donating my eggs hurt my chances of getting pregnant in the future?
I think egg donation centers should read this thread. Anyone that asked a question that was already asked/ answered further up should be permanently barred from donating since they must be illiterate (how someone learns to write without reading is beyond me). Read people!
Hi,
i found couple diferent agencys in CA.
one starts at $7000 / $8000 for first timers and then goes up $2000 for each next cycle.

google for Premier Egg donation Agency
I see many of you asking some of the frequently asked questions (FAQ) which may be answered by visiting http://www.angeleggdonation.com/FAQ.html
@ Ediat - You may want to be skeptical of Egg Donor agencies or 'companies' offering $10,000+ for first time egg donors, since the ASRM suggests that sums above $10,000 compensation are inappropriate. Remember, egg donor compensation is not regulated by law, however, the ASRM has ethical guidelines surrounding compensation for a reason. In many countries compensated egg donation is illegal, and many legislative pursuits have surfaced to do the same in America due to some of these outrageous compensation requests.
@ Illyria and Danielle - Most donors who choose to have children after donating their eggs are able to successfully achieve pregnancy without any difficulty.
@ anon – Since intended parents are taking a financial and emotional risk with a first time/unproven donor, $10,000 may be just a bit much to ask. At An Angel’s Gift, Inc., we request that our first time egg donors adhere to a first time donor maximum of $5,000 for several reasons. Firstly, there may be additional testing that needs to be done on a first time donor that the intended parents will have to pay for – some tests that may possibly be avoided with a repeat donor. Secondly, since egg donation requires a lot of time, effort, and responsibility on your behalf, intended parents don’t have a ‘precedence’ per se that you will not fall through and become unreliable.
@ Ebony – The actual egg retrieval is a surgical procedure whereby your eggs are aspirated by an ultrasound guided needle. You are comfortably sleeping during this procedure, however it is still a surgical procedure and you will feel bloating and discomfort afterward. Additionally, you will have to give yourself subcutaneous injections to administer the fertility medications necessary to donate your eggs. If you’re afraid of needles, egg donation is not for you!
@ AJ – not all agencies require you to be a college graduate. However, the simple fact that you pursued higher education, and were able to successfully complete such an accomplishment does speak to your tenacity and responsibility. Since reliability is so important when donating your eggs, having a college education speaks volumes. Additionally, many (not all) intended parents require college education for their donors. Since intended parents make the egg donor selection, it only makes sense that agencies recruit what intended parents are looking for.
@ Katie and Nicky – Many clinics and egg donor programs require that their donor applicants be between the ages of 19-33. I’ve not personally seen ages older than 33 accepted into programs, but they may be out there. At An Angel’s Gift, we require our donors be at least 21 years of age, but not older than 30. At 41 you would unfortunately not be eligible to donate your eggs.
@ Sabby - Yes. The procedure bypasses your fallopian tubes and accesses the ovaries directly
Again, MANY questions you gals ask are answered on our FAQ page: http://www.angeleggdonation.com/FAQ.html - Best of luck to all you wonderful ladies with such big hearts willing to help others!!!

If I wasn't afraid of IVs and giving blood, then I would do this. As a college student, I could use the money. Plus, it's nice to help people. If there was a way to knock me out so they could take my blood, then I could do it.
Do you have to have a college degree?
i dont understand why you have to have a high school diploma to donate eggs. it shouldnt matter about education if a young woman is willing to donate their eggs to someone who is in fertal so that thay will have a chance to be a mommy, all that should matter is that the doner is clean disease free and in good health they should be allowed to donate.
why aren't there any christian companies to donate with? They do adoption all the time why not egg donation?

Hello, my name is kathryn and i recently got kicked out of my home and had to turn custody of my 4 month old to his father because of that. But i digress; im 18 years old, i graduated high school a year ago, and my son is in the 96th percentile and he was born at 9.67 lbs (strong genes), i was hoping to locate an agency- a legit agency or couple mind you that would like me to donate my eggs in the st louis/ belleville illinois area.
I have black hair, blue eyes, im roughly 5'4", i weigh about 130 pounds and i wont deny that im pretty stocky in my build. Ive read and have weighed the pros and cons on this. However my uniformed conclusion was that even though he is no longer in my care id still love to provide my lil monkey (my son) a good college education and get into a rental for myself so i could see him more often as well
My email is:: ksilvey81@gmail.com
